AmericanTrucks Reviews New 2018 Ford F-150 Diesel

AmericanTruckspert, Justin Dugan, recently got his hands on a beautiful, brand-new F-150 Lariat SuperCrew with the new 3.0L V-6 Power Stroke Turbo Diesel, thanks to friends at Garnet Ford in West Chester, Pennsylvania. This highly-anticipated configuration of the F-150 is the topic for this month’s episode of AmericanTrucks’ “The Haul.”

In October’s episode of “The Haul.” Justin reviews the 2018 F150 Diesel comparing it to the previous 2015-17 design as well as a side-by-side with AmericanTruck’s fleet 2018 F150 STX equipped with 5.0L V-8. In this video, Justin describes the perks and quirks of this new F-150 variant, explaining some of its heritage, as well as why it is worthy of the blue ‘Ford Oval’ badge and dedicated truck use. Also included in this episode is a stock, speed-limited, dyno pull on AmericanTruck’s in-house dyno as well as a spin around the block to get a feel for that low-end torque and fabulous fuel economy.

  1. What jumps out at me is the 5 mpg (highway) penalty for 4WD. Do these have those free spinning front hubs? If not I wonder how much that would help.

  2. Mike, I think it would be more revealing to have honest user reviews and not paid Ford blue oval hawkers tell us of the wonders of the product. None of the small diesel trucks of late have had very good traction in the truck camper market.
