Looking for an affordable, fully equipped truck camper that’s ready to hit the road? This 2004 Palomino Maverick M-1000SL offers a surprising amount of living space and comfort in a package designed for an 8-foot long-bed truck. With a dinette slide-out, queen-size bed, wet bath, full kitchen, air conditioning, furnace, and electric jacks, this Palomino has everything needed for weekend getaways, hunting trips, extended road trips, or off-grid adventures.
The owners are selling simply because their camping needs have changed and they’re ready to move into something larger. They’ve enjoyed the Maverick on numerous week-long camping trips and appreciate the freedom it provides compared to towing a conventional travel trailer. With an approximate 2,650-pound dry weight, the camper is best paired with a properly equipped 3/4-ton or larger long-bed truck.

Room to Relax
One of the Maverick M-1000SL’s best features is its dinette slide-out, which substantially opens up the main living area. The owners removed one side of the dinette to create even more usable floor space, but all of the original pieces are included if the next owner wants to restore the factory configuration.
Up front is a comfortable queen-size mattress with bedside storage. The camper also features a wet bath with shower and toilet, a Dometic 5-cubic-foot three-way refrigerator/freezer, a stainless commercial-style kitchen sink, microwave/air fryer, 12-volt lighting, and plenty of storage for extended trips.
Climate control is handled by a 13,500-BTU air conditioner that was replaced last year and a 16,000-BTU propane furnace for cold-weather camping. A newer 12-volt, 100Ah deep-cycle battery, installed approximately one year ago, provides power when camping away from hookups.

Major Roof Replacement
Perhaps the most important upgrade occurred in 2023, when the camper’s roof was completely replaced to address previous leaks. Since then, the Maverick has been kept covered when not in use. According to the owners, the camper’s major systems are currently working as they should.
For boondocking, the Maverick carries 30 gallons of fresh water, along with 7-gallon gray and 7-gallon black tanks. A 6-gallon water heater provides hot water, while two 20-pound propane cylinders supply the furnace and other propane appliances. Other conveniences include city-water capability, an exterior shower, 12-volt vent fan, exterior 110-volt outlet, motion-activated solar light at the rear entrance, wheel-well access doors, rear ladder with gas-can mount, and exterior storage.

Loaded With Useful Extras
This camper also comes with a substantial collection of equipment that should make getting on the road considerably easier. Included are HappiJac tie-downs and truck mounts for 2004-2008 Ford Super Duty trucks, representing more than $1,000 in equipment alone. Buyers should verify fitment for their specific truck before installation.
The electric camper jacks feature 4-inch extensions and front swing-out brackets for use with dually trucks. Also included are heavy-duty Lippert entry stairs purchased new last year, four additional jacks for extra support, front truck-bed rubber bumpers, sewer hose adapters, utility equipment, and a winter camper cover.

Ready for Its Next Adventure
This isn’t a camper being sold because it has been forgotten in the backyard. The owners have traveled and camped with it, made meaningful upgrades, and are moving on only because they now need more room.
