About Scout Campers

Scout Campers is a division of Adventurer Manufacturing, the longtime truck camper builder that has been producing recreational vehicles since 1969. Scout campers are manufactured in Yakima, Washington, drawing on the experience and production resources of Adventurer Manufacturing while following a distinctly different design philosophy. Rather than building conventional, amenity-heavy truck campers, Scout focuses on lightweight, modular designs intended for off-grid travel and outdoor adventure. One of the more distinctive aspects of the lineup is that Scout offers many of its campers in both hard-side and pop-up configurations bearing the same model name, including the Yoho, Olympic, and Kenai. Together, these models accommodate everything from compact and midsize pickups to full-size half-ton, 3/4-ton, and one-ton trucks.

Construction is one of Scout’s biggest strengths. Rather than employing a conventional aluminum or wood frame, Scout campers use a distinctive aluminum exoskeleton combined with wood-free composite structural panels. The composite substrate incorporates high-density polyurethane foam insulation reinforced with fiberglass, while gel-coat fiberglass is used for the exterior surfaces and roof. This construction eliminates structural wood from the camper body, helping reduce the potential for rot and moisture damage while providing an excellent combination of strength, insulation, durability, and low weight.

Scout also takes an unconventional approach to camper systems. Rather than loading every camper with permanently installed RV equipment, the company emphasizes portable, removable, and modular components that allow owners to configure their camper around the way they travel. Portable water containers, removable refrigerators, portable toilets, solar power, lithium batteries, and other equipment provide many of the conveniences of a conventional truck camper without the weight and complexity of large fixed plumbing and electrical systems. The approach also makes components easier to remove, replace, upgrade, or even use outside the camper—a particularly useful feature for boondocking and overland travel.

The current Scout lineup provides buyers with both hardwall and pop-up models for trucks with lower payload ratings. The exceptionally lightweight Tuktut Hardwall anchors the range for compact and mid-size pickups, followed by the Yoho, Olympic, and Kenai Hardwall models as truck size and payload increase. Scout also offers pop-up versions of the Yoho, Olympic, and Kenai, providing a lower travel profile while retaining the company’s aluminum-exoskeleton, composite-construction, and modular philosophy. Together, these models give Scout a broad range of lightweight truck campers backed by the manufacturing experience of Adventurer Manufacturing, while maintaining a distinctive identity centered on simplicity, low weight, off-grid capability, and four-season adventure.
