Northern Lite has been building premium truck campers in British Columbia for more than three decades, earning a particularly strong following among owners who value lightweight construction, durability, and genuine four-season capability. The Canadian company’s signature feature is its distinctive two-piece molded fiberglass clamshell construction, consisting of upper and lower fiberglass shells joined around the camper rather than conventional framed walls covered with exterior siding. This approach dramatically reduces the number of seams and potential water-intrusion points while producing a strong, aerodynamic shell well suited to years of travel in demanding conditions. Northern Lite backs that construction with a six-year structural warranty.
Cold-weather performance is another major reason Northern Lite remains popular with serious truck camper travelers. All Northern Lite truck campers carry an R-7 insulation rating in the walls, roof, and floor, with additional insulation beneath the cabover that Truck Camper Adventure rates at approximately R-12. Thermal-pane windows and skylights further reduce heat loss, while an insulated floor, heated holding tanks, and a ducted furnace system route warm air into the basement to protect the plumbing and warm the camper floor. Northern Lite says its campers have been tested to -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit) with water onboard, making them particularly attractive to skiers, hunters, winter travelers, and anyone who refuses to let freezing temperatures end the camping season.
Northern Lite’s larger campers are divided primarily between the Limited Edition and Sportsman Plus series. The Limited Edition is the company’s flagship, fully equipped line and is offered in the 8-11, 9-6, and 10-2 floorplans. Standard equipment is extensive and includes 600 watts of solar, a 20,000-BTU furnace, air conditioning, power side and rear awnings, premium leatherette seating, hardwood cabinetry, thermal windows, electric jacks, and numerous other comfort and convenience features. Bathroom choices vary by floorplan as well: the 8-11 and 10-2 Limited Edition are available with either a wet- or dry-bath, while the 9-6 uses a wet-bath.

The Sportsman Plus takes a somewhat different approach. It retains Northern Lite’s two-piece fiberglass construction, R-7 insulation, heated basement, Four Season Package, thermal windows, 600 watts of solar, electric jacks, and other important features, but leaves more equipment optional. That makes the Sportsman Plus both more configurable and significantly lighter than the Limited Edition. The series is offered as the short-bed 8-11 with either a wet- or dry-bath and the long-bed 9-6 with a wet-bath. For example, Northern Lite lists the 8-11 Sportsman Plus at approximately 2,710 pounds dry, compared with about 3,050 pounds for the 8-11 Limited Edition. For buyers who don’t need every luxury feature, that roughly 340-pound reduction can make a meaningful difference when matching a camper to a truck.
Rounding out the lineup is the compact Northern Lite 610, designed specifically for domestic half-ton short-bed pickups, while the larger 8-11, 9-6, and 10-2 address buyers wanting progressively more living space and capacity. The 8-11 is the short-bed choice, while the 9-6 and 10-2 are designed for long-bed trucks. Regardless of size or trim level, the philosophy remains remarkably consistent: no slide-outs, a weather-resistant fiberglass clamshell, serious insulation, protected plumbing, and relatively lightweight construction. Northern Lite deliberately avoids slide-outs because the company believes they add weight while introducing additional opportunities for heat loss and water intrusion. The result is one of the most recognizable and proven four-season truck camper designs on the market—and an especially compelling choice for owners who plan to camp year-round rather than park their camper when winter arrives.
