Rugged Mountain Campers took first place at the 2025 Overland Expo Mountain West. Bestowed by the team at Truck Camper Adventure, the award winning rig consists of a Rugged Mountain Denali 3S camper mounted on a Black Edition Elevation Off Grid Ford F-550 outfitted with a CM Flatbed with StableCamper storage boxes. The camper features an eye-catching black and red wrap with a stars and stripes patriotic theme.
When we told Rugged Mountain CEO and owner, Jesse Collingsworth and his wife, Anca, about the first place award, they were thrilled.
“This is great news, Mike, we are really proud of this camper and took a lot of time to prepare this rig for the show,” Jesse said. “The camper’s got a full wrap, an eye-catching wrap. We use a company out of Boise to do these. With its patriotic theme, I think it’s one of my best wraps. It has a flag on there with mountains, and it actually has some ducks on the front, but they’re hard to see when the slide-outs are out, but it looks really good when everything’s in.”

Why Rugged Mountain chose to showcase the Denali 3S at the Overland Expo is no surprise. After all, the mountain-sized camper comes with three slide-outs and 180 square feet of living space, more than any other truck camper in the industry. It features a large dry-bath, a center island with a sink, a central vacuum system, a 1,200 watt solar power system, a 1,350 amp hour lithium battery system, a 3,000 watt inverter, and two 50 amp DC-DC chargers. The camper has zero propane, heating instead is provided by a Timberline diesel heater with a 5-gallon fuel tank.
The Rugged Mountain Denali 3S was featured recently in a detailed story here at Truck Camper Adventure.
For this particular truck camper build, Jesse chose the best looking, most capable truck in the market—Elevation Off Grid’s Black Edition Ford F-550 sporting 41-inch Goodyear MT tires and a LiquidSpring suspension for a smooth and silky ride. For the bed, Jesse went with a CM Flatbed outfitted with StableCamper boxes for storage.

We call the Denali 3S a “hotel-on-wheels” and we mean it. One thing that makes the Rugged Mountain Denali 3S so capable is the size of the camper’s holding tanks. With 82 gallons fresh, 70 gallons grey, and 40 gallons black, the Rugged Mountain Denali 3S boasts the largest holding tanks in the industry. With careful use, this allows the Denali to camp off-grid for weeks at a time before the need to dump the waste tanks and replenish the fresh tank.
But the mammoth-size camper comes with more than just large holding tanks, it features some of the best amenities in the industry. The camper comes with a big stainless steel, single-basin sink in the center island, a 10 cubic foot DC compressor refrigerator, an induction cooktop, a convection microwave oven and air fryer, acrylic dual thermopane windows, loads of comfortable seating, and a Garmin touch screen system with a 360 degree camera, The camper’s 3,000 watt inverter can power the Houghton air conditioner off grid with ease.
“The Denali 3S has the largest footprint of any truck camper in today’s market,” explained Jesse. “I came up with this design for my two little girls with the bunk bed over the dinette. You could sleep two, one at the dinette, one on the bunk bed, and still have a seating area in the back slide-out with a jack knife sofa. So theoretically, this thing with the queen bed up front, you’ve got five sleeping areas to sleep enough people, whether it’s at hunting camp or just out for the family.”
Jesse teased us with some big changes that are coming down the pike at Rugged Mountain RV. This is no surprise. Jesse is always looking for ways to improve his product.
“Keep an eye out. We’ve got tons of big things that will be coming out in the beginning of the year. It will change my product line completely,” he said.
