About Lance Campers

Few names are as closely associated with the modern truck camper as Lance Camper. Founded in North Hollywood, California, in 1965, Lance has spent more than six decades building truck campers and developing many of the manufacturing techniques and materials that now define its products. Today, Lance operates from its manufacturing facility in Lancaster, California, where computer-aided design, CNC manufacturing, and modern composite construction play major roles in the production process.

For truck camper buyers, Lance now offers two distinct brands of hard-side campers: Lance and Squire. The traditional Lance line represents the company’s more fully featured truck campers, ranging from relatively lightweight non-slide models to large luxury campers with one or two slide-outs. Squire, meanwhile, is positioned as Lance’s value-oriented brand, with simpler interiors, fewer standard amenities, and construction that differs in important respects from the traditional Lance line. For this reason, the construction specifications, insulation R-values, and four-season features described below apply specifically to Lance-branded truck campers and should not be attributed to Squire models.

Construction is one of the strengths of the Lance-branded lineup. These campers employ aluminum-framed structural assemblies along with Azdel composite substrates, rigid block-foam insulation, laminated components, fiberglass exteriors, and one-piece TPO roofs. Lance campers feature R9 walls, an R9 floor, and an R9 ceiling, supplemented by Azdel to reduce thermal bridging. The cabover receives additional insulation with Reflectix and a carpeted overlay for an R16 total, while basement models receive an additional R9 insulation layer. Lance also uses R3.5 frameless dual-pane acrylic windows and R12 Reflectix in exterior cavities, including the dump-valve area.

The current truck camper lineup offers an unusually broad selection for buyers with everything from lighter-duty pickups to heavy-duty one-ton trucks. The Squire SQ605, SQ610, and SQ825 anchor the value-oriented end of the range, while the traditional Lance 650, 850, 855S, 865, 960, 975, 1062, 1172, and 1191 provide progressively larger floorplans, greater capacities, and more amenities. Buyers can choose from compact non-slide campers, single-slide models, and spacious double-slide floorplans, making the combined Lance and Squire lineup broad enough to accommodate a wide range of payload ratings, camping styles, and budgets.
