We’ve all heard the stories about how dash cams protect drivers from road rage incidents and how they can prove your innocence in the event of an accident. The great thing about this truck mod is that it’s fairly simple to install. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to install and set one up.
What exactly is a dash cam? It’s basically a small camera that is attached to either the rear view mirror, dashboard, or windshield in your truck (or car). It records video when you are driving and captures both the road head ahead and in some cases the road behind you. The dash cam is powered by the 12 volt battery in your vehicle, meaning you don’t have to worry about the batteries inside the cam failing in the middle of a trip.

Final Thoughts
The Wolfbox G900PRO is an excellent way to provide additional protection for your truck camper rig. If you’ve been thinking about buying one, you really should do it. The reviews are overwhelming positive. Not only can this little unit protect you and your family from the dangerous actions of others, but it can also record your outings in your truck camper. What’s not the like about that? Not only that, but the Wolfbox G900PRO Dash Cam is a bonus in that it allows you to see what’s behind your camper, something that the rear view mirror can’t do when hauling your truck camper.

If the rear camera works on demand then I’ll take one. My current rear camera only works while in reverse.
Other recommendations;
1) Get a front-facing camera that also has two side-facing cameras AND sound recording. It is very helpful for evidence of break-ins, monitoring interactions with law enforcement/’karen’s’ and improves any evidence of side impact accidents.
2) If you choose to use YOUR camera video to defend yourself in a traffic accident, understand that law enforcement CAN and WILL (lawfully) require you to provide ALL of your video so they can review your driving behavior prior to the accident to determine if your behavior was a contributor.
3) I use an LCD screen replacement for the otherwise useless rear view mirror and value that for augmenting my side mirrors and also reviewing recorded content at a scale that is usable.
4) Decide if you are going to use the camera in a ‘key-on’ (only) mode or
‘always on’ (to be prepared to record accidents while parked or theft attempts), which typically requires a ‘hard-wire’ power supply which may be an optional purchase.
Three months ago I installed one on a F350 with a 2017 Cirrus 920. Used extra cabling and a waterproof connector installed near the hitch. Disconnecting the camper from truck works fine. After a firmware update it works fine. Seeing behind the camper while driving.is great.
Seems like that dash cam isn’t great for truck campers since the rear camera is hard wired.
True, the front camera is better than nothing.
