TRAVOCA Rigel+: The Camp Kitchen Upgrade You Didn’t Know You Needed

Anyone who has spent time exploring remote backroads in a truck camper or camping out beneath a truck topper knows that cold food and ice-cold drinks aren’t luxuries—they’re necessities.

Whether you’re parked beside a hidden mountain lake, deep in the desert, or hundreds of miles down a forgotten forest service road, reliable refrigeration can make the difference between a memorable adventure and a frustrating one. That’s where TRAVOCA’s new Rigel+ Dual Zone eCooler comes in.

Freshly unveiled at Overland Expo SoCal in Costa Mesa, California, the Rigel+ builds on the success of the company’s popular Rigel portable refrigerator, adding a collection of thoughtful upgrades inspired directly by feedback from overlanders, truck campers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Designed by Campers, for Campers

One of the best things about the Rigel+ is that it wasn’t designed in a boardroom—it evolved from conversations around campsites and expo booths.

TRAVOCA listened to how people actually use their portable refrigerators in the field and incorporated practical improvements that make everyday camp life easier.

The most obvious addition is an exterior MOLLE panel, providing a dedicated place to organize the small essentials that always seem to disappear around camp. Spices, cooking utensils, flashlights, multi-tools, and other frequently used gear can now stay within arm’s reach instead of getting buried in storage bins.

On the opposite side, TRAVOCA added a fold-out steel shelf that may quickly become your favorite feature. Need a place to set a cold beverage while grilling? A spot to prep lunch? Somewhere to hold your coffee mug while watching the sunrise from camp? The integrated shelf handles it all.

Built for Life Inside a Truck Camper

Space is precious in truck campers, slide-ins, and topper builds. Every piece of gear needs to earn its place.

The Rigel+ helps maximize efficiency with removable storage baskets that make organizing food simple. Instead of digging through layers of supplies to find what you’re looking for, baskets can be lifted out for quick access and easier cleanup.

The removable divider offers even more flexibility. Need a refrigerator and freezer at the same time? No problem. Want maximum refrigerated storage for a weekend trip? Easy. The system can be configured to fit the demands of each adventure.

True Dual-Zone Cooling

Available in 35L, 45L, and 60L capacities, the Rigel+ is designed to serve everyone from weekend explorers to full-time overlanders.

Its dual-zone cooling system allows users to independently control temperatures in separate compartments. That means frozen steaks and ice cream can ride alongside fresh vegetables, beverages, and sandwich fixings without compromise.

Even better, the system can cool down to -4F, ensuring dependable freezing performance even during hot summer expeditions.

Access From Any Angle

Anyone who’s installed a refrigerator in a truck camper knows that access can sometimes be a challenge.

TRAVOCA addressed that issue with a clever three-way opening lid that’s fully removable. Whether the cooler is mounted in a truck bed drawer system, tucked inside a topper build, or sitting beneath a camper dinette, users can configure access to fit their layout.

The Rigel+ also features app-based temperature control, allowing campers to monitor and adjust cooling settings directly from their smartphone.

A Fresh New Look

Performance upgrades aren’t the only changes.

The Rigel+ debuts in a striking new Borage Blue finish that stands out from the sea of black and gray gear commonly found in the overland market. It retains the distinctive bamboo accents that helped make the original Rigel recognizable while adding a more modern, refined appearance.

According to Stuart Rudolph, Managing Director of TRAVOCA USA, customer suggestions played a major role in the cooler’s evolution.

“Everyone notices the unique DIY-inspired bamboo panels from our original design and offers suggestions on how to add accessories,” Rudolph explains. “From those hints, we added a shelf and a MOLLE panel to the Rigel+, which can also be purchased separately to upgrade the original Rigel.”

The Bottom Line

The portable fridge market has become crowded in recent years, but the Rigel+ stands out by focusing on the little details that matter when you’re actually living out of a truck camper, overland rig, or topper setup.

The MOLLE storage, fold-out shelf, removable baskets, dual-zone cooling, flexible lid design, and app controls all work together to create a refrigerator that feels purpose-built for adventure travel.

For truck camper and truck topper owners who spend serious time off-grid, the Rigel+ may be one of the most practical camp kitchen upgrades to hit the market this year.
