Host Begins New Chapter Under New Ownership

Truck Camper Adventure has learned that Host Campers has recently been sold. According to former co-owner, Mark Storch, he and co-owner Dave Hogue, sold the Oregon-based truck camper manufacturing company to private investors, Duane Walker and Duane Stevens. The sale took place May 1, 2025.

A force in the industry, the Host Campers produces premium double- and triple-slide truck campers. Host campers can be purchased from over a dozen RV dealerships nationwide. The company’s beginning in 2000, however, was anything but auspicious with the first campers being built in Jim Hogue’s garage. The first camper the company produced was a discontinued model called the Yellowstone.

The company name originates from the first two letters of each owners’ last names—“Ho” and “St.”

Selling [Host Campers] was bittersweet,” Mark Storch said. “I’m 12 years younger than Dave, so he was really ready to retire. Dave said I can stay-on if I wanted, but I said, ‘no, we started the exact same day, we’re going to end the same way.’ Dave and I are both staying on long enough to train these guys up. We want to see it succeed because we started it, so I don’t want to see them fail. We love the product, and love our employees. We care about our employees, so we want to see this thing continue.”

As far as the truck camper market, Host not only makes the largest truck campers in the industry, but also the best when it comes to quality. Their four-season campers are ruggedly built with trusses in the roof, studs in the wall, and feature the best slide-out mechanisms in the industry. Host hallmarks include a huge dry bath, a large kitchen, multiple seating areas, a side entry, and a heated basement with a large pull-out storage tray. Large solar power and lithium battery off-grid packages are offered as options as well, but due to the popularity of dispersed camping, nearly all customers opt for one.

Host’s current truck camper catalog consists of five long-bed models: the Mammoth 11.6, Yukon 11.6, Everest 11.6, Cascade 10.6, and the Tahoe LB 9.6, and one short-bed model the Tahoe SB. The Cascade and Tahoe models feature two slide-outs rather than three. By far, the best selling model is the Mammoth 11.6. This elephant-sized truck camper offers an amazing 180 square feet of living space, rivaling the space found in most motorhomes.

Host campers can be purchased at dealerships nationwide. Unlike the largest truck camper manufacturers in the industry, Host doesn’t flood the market with inventory that negatively impacts re-sale value. This results in a positive return on investment when a customer wants to sell their camper in the future.

Dave and Mark’s business model has been wildly successful, but like most things in life, all good things must come to an end. It’s time for the two to begin a new chapter in their lives.

“I’ve been doing this my whole life,” Mark said. “Our dad’s started Beaver Coaches in the 1960s. I was working there when I was still in preschool, sweeping floors and stuff. It’s been my whole life, the RV industry. I’m just going to relax and enjoy life for a while. Dave and I built ourselves a camper before we signed over the title to the company. So we’re going to travel for a while and enjoy life.”

So which models did the former Host owners choose?

“Dave built a Mammoth and I built a Yukon. We each got the biggest one. I’m the Yukon guy, He’s a Mammoth guy. They’re both great campers, but I like the rear recliners,” he said.
