GS Product Design, a brand new California-based company, just launched its new “Hatch Latch Gaskets” for recreation vehicles. These gaskets, which prevent water intrusion, replace the OEM gaskets that will deteriorate over time.
“We’re excited about this launch,” said Garrick Sillers, founder and CEO of GS Product Design. “As a 25-year veteran of owning RVs from toy haulers and travel trailers to our current slide-in truck camper, I have experienced many situations that could have been avoided by simple preventative maintenance. One of my top priorities is preventing water intrusion. Every one of our RVs were equipped with external compartments that used standard thumb latch lever and lock assemblies, which rely on a single rubber gasket to prevent water intrusion, but nobody sells them. Our new gasket solves this problem.”
Over time, hatch gaskets inevitably degrade from UV exposure, over-tightening, or old age, thereby leaving the interior of your RV vulnerable to water damage. The problem is that these gaskets need replacing, yet RV parts suppliers do not offer these gaskets, which means the entire latch assembly must be purchased which can become costly and time consuming to replace. For example, Garrick’s current camper features eight storage compartments, which means that 16 new locks and levers would need to be purchased to simply replace the gaskets.
“Drawing on my background in Mechanical Design and Manufacturing, I decided to solve this problem myself. We were able to find sources here in the USA to produce a durable, EPDM replacement gasket washer that works perfectly! We are now ready to provide these essential Hatch Latch Gaskets to RV owners who share our frustration. They are currently sold in packs of 10 washers for only $9.99,” Sillers said.
