I’m new to truck campers not new to RVing. My question is what should you put your tire pressure on your rear tires of your truck with a camper on hot days or cooler days?
I took my camper on its maiden voyage aired my tires to 80 psi cold, on a 100 degree day and 150 miles into the trip I checked the tire pressure on my rears and it was at 97 psi. Is that correct or what am I not getting right.
      Thanks

That seems excessive to me. I have seen a 10lb increase after warm up on hot days, but there are others with more experience here than me. 97lbs makes me wonder if the truck is a little overweight…

I inflate to 80 lbs. I have Michelin Defenders E rated and they are at their max with my camper on. I get about 8 lbs increase from cold.

We notice a 6 – 8 lb difference between hot and cold pressures while on the road. We have an aftermarket tire pressure monitoring system that makes it real easy to watch pressures and tire temperatures in real time while on the road. 18 pounds seems like a lot but if both tires in the rear read the same, then its likely normal.

I have Coopers I I inflate them to 80 psi. I guess I’ll have to take a better look at them with a gage and not the lieometer on dash. Maybe a tire minder is good?
      Thanks

      Lindsay and Chris-
What aftermarket unit do you use and your thoughts on its performance for you?
      Thanks

Its really a perfect tool for a truck camper where tire pressures loaded are so important. This one is pretty standard at around $40 and shows pressures and temperatures on all four wheels. It has temperature and pressure alarms you can preset. It gives us piece of mind and allowed us to comfortably increase our speed on the open road.
[EDIT] Just noticed you profile pic shows a dual rears, search one with 6 sensors.
