ParticipantWhile unloading my 2011 Lance 950S from the truck, I noticed the jacks would not come down at full power. They surged in small increments as if the battery was low. Well, it’s hooked to Shore Power, so this should not be an issue. They work fine individually, but that’s very awkward and time-consuming.
I changed the battery in the remote, no change.
Any ideas as what to look for? - March 21, 2019 at 06:44 #29878

ParticipantYes, your initial impression of low power is likely correct. In fact, the standard recommendation when low on power is to lower one jack at a time. I would not assume because you are on shore power than you converter is able to handle the load as they are subject to failure like anything else. Put a meter on your battery and run your jacks as a starting point to diagnosis.
It could be something else, but start with the simplest first or if you do not have a meter or prefer not to use one, tie a jump box that is fully charged to your camper battery and see if it makes things better.
Since I work on RVs, I have to deal with motor issues a lot and I always have my jump box fully charged and close at hand when testing in these kinds of situations. 🙂

ParticipantI agree with ardvark. It comes down to a question of haw many AMPS do the jacks draw, vs how many amps the converter can supply. For high current loads, the converter may not supply enough current and they really need to draw power from a fully charged battery to work properly.

I don't like to make plans. They cause the word "PREMEDITATED" to get used in court!

ParticipantWhen I removed the electrical panel cover, 2 halves of a rectifier diode fell out. After removing and cleaning the converter, the location for the diode was obvious.
I ordered a replacement (cost = 36 cents), installed it, and everything is working like new!
Thanks, gentlemen, for your input! - March 30, 2019 at 05:44 #30076

ParticipantSimple fixes are always welcome for sure. Glad to hear you found the culprit.
