ParticipantI have a problem. The Zamp solar panel on my 2017 Northstar TC800 stopped working. It is under warranty, and Zamp was willing to replace it under that warranty. Zamp wanted pictures from the Zamp authorized dealer in the Salt Lake area. The pictures showed that the SAE plug on the panel had been cut off and hard wired inside the camper, thus voiding Zamp warranty. I called Northstar with no response. I called the dealer who sold the camper new to me. The dealer said that the solar comes installed by Northstar from the factory. He called Rex Willets (the owner of Northstar) to let him know of my situation. In a written response, Rex Willets blamed me for violating his camper’s warranty by having the panel replaced without contacting them first. I responded that I did try to contact Northstar without success, and after a month of no solar for my camper, I had it replaced for $570 plus labor. The bottom line, Rex refused to honor his warranty and blamed Zamp. Zamp blamed Northstar (sounds familiar). The bottom line, no warranty, and Northstar refused to change the way they wire solar panels. In other words, Northstar will continue to hardwire the solar panels in their campers thus voiding the solar panel warranty on every camper they make. I will never buy another camper from Northstar because of this. Thanks for nothing Rex. Anybody else have this experience with Northstar?
