ModeratorIt’s only been 2 weeks, but it seems like a month we’ve been on the road. Every day is a new adventure. It is said that the way to make your trip (or life) seem longer is to have a variety of different experiences. We made a decision to buy a new truck camper last spring; sold our old 1998 Lance Lite 165-s; and tried out a couple dozen hardside campers that had a similar footprint and weight as our beloved 165-s. We tried all the big names, and with Mike’s advice tried a Northstar Laredo SC fitted for a short bed. What a camper! Light years ahead in all aspects compared to our 21 yr. old Lance. I’ll make this short as I’m aiming to do a complete review once we get back from our 6-8 week road trip to the N.E. and leaf peeper country. The odometer already has 3400 miles. This trip finds us in 2 modes: 1. traveling with suitcases for hotels and friends homes, and 2. loading the camper with all our camper accoutrement including all kitchen, bedding, food, and clothes. We’ve mixed it up during the last fortnight with motels and campgrounds: dry, meager, and luxo. For those days of travel trying to make time, we eat out. So far we’ve had wonderful and high quality Thai in Rawlins WY; Japanese in Kearney NB; Texas Steak in Des Moines IA; great German in Fargo, ND; and great Indian in Grand Rapids MI. Ah, the Chicken Vindaloo. There was the usual “period of adjustment” with the new camper, but that stage is behind us. We are at friends in Ann Arbor MI and our friends offered me a ticket for the Michigan/Iowa Homecoming football game on Saturday. I went to Long Beach State so I have no preference.

KeymasterJeff,
Glad to hear everything is going well with the new camper. How does Jeanie like the bathroom? That was her biggest complaint about the camper beforehand, right? Looking forward to additional reports.Mike

ModeratorMike,
She likes it a lot as I’m the one wearing the rubber gloves.

ParticipantYoly, Long Beach State class of ’67.
That was back when it was called Long Beach State. Later to be renamed CSULB (California State University Long Beach) when I was there. My mother was the admin assistant for the head of the Psychology Dept back when you were there. I also graduated from Poly High and LBCC. Small world !
