Participanthey guys,
I’m a newbie to Truck camping, and cannot wait to explore and boondock this summer with my family… I’ve been studying and researching methods and mods from previous experienced explorers and ways to be the most efficient camper I can be. Mostly, because as you guys know, space is limited! With that being said, I received a small portable propane grill for my birthday for my TC. I own a 2000 Arctic Fox 990S. This particular camper didn’t come with a LP port for external appliances like the newer campers. I also don’t want to continuously bring 1lb bottles and thought to myself, “I have 2 30lb bottles on board, there’s got to be a way.” There’s ways for sure, as I found on youtube and google, but most I’ve noticed are installed on Class C RV’s. the compartment is super tight where my 30 lb tanks are installed. Can you guys please offer my any tips or advice on fittings or if its possible? Thanks! -Alex2015 GMC DENALI 3500HD

KeymasterI, too, grappled with this problem. I went with a simple approach. My rig has two propane bottles, but only one is used at any one time. I simply connected a 6-foot long propane hose to the unused propane bottle and connected the other end to my grill. Works fine for me.

ParticipantThanks Mike, I didnt even think about that! do you place a Male plug into the unused hose to prevent leak by or does that valve hold well enough? I appreciate your help!

KeymasterI disconnect the hose when I’m not using it. It only takes a few seconds to connect and disconnect it. I keep the propane hose rolled up in the compartment along with my fresh water hose.

ParticipantMaybe I’m going backwards but I like the small propane bottles as it allows me to move my grill anywhere I like with ease. If the wind picks up while cooking, just pick it up and move it around to the other side without having to drag the tank as well. The bottles also fit quite nicely in my propane compartment so storing them is easy. Works for me but I can understand your desire to tie into your existing system.

InactiveRemember when you set up an extend propane hose for your table top barbecue that these barbecue come in either high pressure or low pressure. This will determine which side of the propane regulator you install that tee fitting, if your barbecue takes a spin on bottle it’s a high press unit and will have it own regulator.
