ParticipantOur new 2019 Northstar Laredo cam with a Carefree Freedom WM awning which reminds me of the original Fiamma awnings I have had in the past. Only difference was I was able to reach those. I am six feet tall and cannot reach the arm releases in order to slide the arms out on the Carefree. I can touch them with my finger tips with my arms fully extended and that’s about it.
I know it says on the Internet to crank the awning all the way out and it will drop to easy reach, which I guess might be true if I was a great deal taller. All I can figure out is if I want to use the awning on our Laredo we either have to carry a ladder or install the motor upgrade which currently appears to be out of stock on Amazon and Walmart.
Anyone else in this boat? Does the awning loosen up with use and drop down lower?

KeymasterThe excessive height is the main reason why I think a side awning on a truck camper is impractical. JMHO.

ParticipantDon’t disagree. It was on the truck at the dealer’s, so no real choice. I guess I could just air down my tires! 🙂
