      Hi All,

I just bought a 2009 Lance 825. I need the plug on the truck side that the trailer plugs into. I don’t know what it is called and when I try and describe it to the sales guys they all seem mesmerized. Also I live in Arizona, and I cannot find any sources for camper specific parts. I was told to go to Tom’s Camperland, but when I went there I was told rudely that they don’t sell parts? When I asked specifically about the pigtail they had no clue what I was talking about which is weird because that means when they sale campers, they must leave with no lights or anything till the owner gets home to try and figure out how to find the male pigtail on the truck side.

So they told me to go to Camping World. I ran out there and they told me they don’t sell Camper parts and that I should try Toms Camperland, so I went back to Toms and they told me to try Amazon. I couldn’t find any such part on Amazon so I tried etrailer.com of whom still had no idea of what I was talking about and told me to try jc whitney. I went there and it is all auto parts.

I am really at a loss. I can’t power up my trailer with my truck because nobody in arizona has any clue about a pigtail the camper plugs into. Even at Toms Camperworld when I went to the camper and showed them the actual plug they told me they had no clue what I needed for the male plug. As you can imagine this is very frustrating.

So please since I am on an actual camper forum, if any of you are in Arizona, please tell me where you get your parts? I would really like to hook up my camper to my trailer. By the way do don’t want an extension to my trailer hitch because I plan on towing also. Just need to hook to my truck wiring via some mail pig tail

I am going to attach a picture maybe someone can give me the correct name

Sorry I can’t re-edit my post, but I am used to hauling a toy hauler trailer, and I am new to a slide-in camper, so I have actually said the word trailer in places where I meant camper.

I’m having a hard time following, but I worked on this stuff professionally for years and still do part-time. Are you saying that the seven pin plug on your camper does not match the seven pin receptacle on your truck?

Sorry for the confusion, I am really new at the camper, but not at fixing things. What I am saying is I bought a camper that has a 7 pin round connector, but I don’t have one on my truck. I need to buy one for my truck for the camper lights to work, Also to charge the battery while I am driving. I cannot use the one in hitch one because it is too far away, and two, because that is a 7 pin spade connector and three because I am also towing a trailer too.

I need a 7 pin round connector that goes into the bed of my truck that I can wire to my trailer lights, and to my Aux battery.

In any case I think Lance themselves is hooking me up, but I can’t find any local parts houses in or around Tempe Arizona. I think finding parts is going to be hard locally.

I also have a lance camper with that odd plug that lance uses. I simply cut it off and replaced it with a standard flat blade 7 way. I mounted the other half on the drivers bed side close to the cab. Works great and if you ever pull a fifth wheel it’s great for that too.

I think jbell pretty well lays out the easiest way to do it. Cut off the weird lance plug and replace it with a standard seven pin like you have on your trailer. Then go to etrailer and buy some version of this 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Plug – GM, Ford, Ram, Toyota – 9′ Long
Item # 50-97-410. It allows you to tee at the seven pin on your truck and run an additional seven pin into the wall of the bed. I have one in my truck for my fifth wheel and my truck camper.

If you really want to go through the trouble of using the plug that Lance uses, I can give you a part number for what I believe is the correct seven pin receptacle, but that is not the direction I would go.

I have to admit I am really surprised no one you spoke with understood you question as this a fairly common issue with Lance campers in my experience. I expect you could also contact Lance customer support directly and they would be happy to guide you.

      Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately it was a little too late. I do like the idea of hacking off the Lance proprietary plug and adding the 7 blade instead, but I ended up talking to Lance directly and they are shipping me the correct parts. Thanks again for the advice, I would have went that route for sure if you were a day earlier haha.

      Thanks again,
