Bryan and Susan,
Jeanie and I have been out several times since Covid-19 hit. One to Western Nevada’s sparsely populated mountains for a few days. Masks when in stores, but none otherwise. Diesel fuel: $3.75 in CA when we left, and $1.99 per gallon in Nevada the next day. Another to the Inyo’s for a week with my bro John. Both these were very remote and we saw few people. On the Inyo trip, we passed a Jeeper coming the other way. I asked him, “how was the trail ahead?” He said, “too rough for me so I turned around.” Like fools We kept going.
A couple weeks ago, my son Matt and his bride Summer took our camper into the wilds of the Northern Sierra Nevada for few days. They brought it back in better shape than it was when they left.
Next week we’ll be on the sierra crest with our kids, grand kids and hangers-on. They’ll be tent camping and RTT-ing.
In early Sept. we’ve set aside 16 days to explore The Grand Tetons; Yellowstone; The Devil’s Tower; Black Hills; Mount Rushmore; and, if time, the badlands with my bro John and his fetching bride Krys. Of course, we’ll be moving every day. I’m hoping we run into some cool weather. We’ve done many trips with them and we are a well oiled machine. I promised John “this time, we’ll stick to better roads.” Bros. Jim and John bought me a 7 inch Lowrance Elite GPS, inland version for my birthday and I’m stoked to try it out.
