You might be able to use an aluminum framed camper without support, but for my old (2000) Alpenlite, I would NEVER use it unsupported. I have installed 4 evenly spaced 2 x 6’s to the bottom of the camper floor and then I use two full-width supports at the front and rear of the floor to support it.
