Dragonfly Energy Expands Its Reach with Acquisition of Dakota Lithium RV Batteries

If you’ve been shopping for lithium batteries over the past few years, you’ve almost certainly come across two familiar names: Battle Born Batteries and Dakota Lithium. Until now, they were competitors. As of this week, they’re family.

Dragonfly Energy, the Nevada-based company behind Battle Born Batteries, has officially acquired substantially all of the operating assets associated with the Dakota Lithium brand, bringing one of the industry’s best-known lithium battery manufacturers under its corporate umbrella.

For truck campers, RVers, anglers, and off-grid adventurers, the move could ultimately mean more battery choices, better product availability, and stronger dealer support.

Two Brands, One Parent Company

Rather than folding Dakota Lithium into the Battle Born lineup, Dragonfly Energy says the two brands will continue operating independently, each serving its own customer base and market position.

Battle Born has long been a favorite among RV and truck camper owners thanks to its American assembly, robust battery management systems, and reputation for reliability in demanding off-grid applications. Dakota Lithium, meanwhile, has built a loyal following in the fishing, marine, powersports, golf cart, and outdoor recreation markets with an extensive lineup of deep-cycle and starting batteries.

Keeping both brands alive allows Dragonfly Energy to cover a much broader segment of the lithium battery market without forcing customers into a one-size-fits-all product lineup.

What This Means for RV Owners

While the acquisition reaches well beyond the RV industry, truck camper and motorhome owners stand to benefit.

Dakota Lithium brings several product categories that complement Battle Born’s existing offerings, including:

  • Deep-cycle lithium batteries
  • Dual-purpose starting and house batteries
  • Compact batteries for motorcycles, ATVs, and UTVs
  • Marine batteries
  • Portable power stations
  • Battery chargers
  • Higher-energy-density battery designs in additional sizes and form factors

That expanded portfolio gives Dragonfly Energy the ability to serve nearly every type of mobile power application, from truck campers and overland rigs to fishing boats and golf carts.

Addressing Product Availability

One of the first priorities following the acquisition will be rebuilding Dakota Lithium inventory.

According to Dragonfly Energy, the company is already working with Dakota Lithium’s existing dealers and distributors to replenish product availability, with additional inventory expected to arrive over the coming months. The company also says it plans to strengthen support for dealers and customers throughout the transition.

For current Dakota Lithium owners, that’s encouraging news, especially if replacement batteries or warranty support have been difficult to obtain recently.

Building on an Established Brand

“Dakota Lithium has established a recognized position across marine, outdoor recreation and other specialty applications,” said Wade Seaburg, Dragonfly Energy’s Chief Commercial Officer. “We see a meaningful opportunity to build on that foundation by supporting product availability, expanding distribution and introducing more customers to the Dakota Lithium brand.”

Rather than reinventing Dakota Lithium, Dragonfly Energy appears focused on giving the brand the operational support and manufacturing resources needed to grow while preserving the identity that made it successful.

Looking Ahead

Dragonfly Energy has steadily expanded beyond simply manufacturing lithium batteries. The company continues investing in domestic battery production, including development of its patented dry electrode manufacturing process and next-generation all-solid-state battery technology.

For RV owners, however, the biggest takeaway is much simpler.

Battle Born Batteries isn’t going anywhere—and neither is Dakota Lithium.

Instead, the two brands now sit under one roof, giving Dragonfly Energy one of the broadest lithium battery portfolios in the outdoor recreation industry. If the company delivers on its plans to improve inventory, expand distribution, and continue supporting both product lines, the acquisition could prove to be a win for anyone looking to power their adventures with lithium technology.
